Debbie Maddocks

My Story

Graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Finance Degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Debbie joined the big four accounting firm, KPMG. During her tenure at KPMG, Debbie’s clients were among the largest in the region’s insurance practice, including Fidelity Financial and the Automobile Club of Southern California.  She also managed the worldwide audit of Harman International, a leader the production and distribution of high-end electronic equipment, including the brands Harmon Kardon and JBL.  

While at KPMG, Debbie was actively involved in the firm’s training program, serving as an instructor on both the local and national levels. In this area, Debbie was twice honored with the National Instructor Excellence Award.  She was also active in the National Quality Performance Review Program, including the review KPMG’s New York Metropolitan region.

After 10 years in public accounting, Debbie accepted a position with PAULA Financial, which had just completed its initial public offering.  Over the course of 12 years with PAULA, Debbie rose to Senior Vice President and CFO, managing the overall financial operations of the company, including SEC compliance, investor relations, acquisition analysis and due diligence, corporate budgeting, operational management and human resources. 

Debbie serves as the volunteer CFO and is on the Board of Directors of Speak Up for the Poor, an international advocacy organization working to transform the world on behalf of the poor, particularly girls in poverty.
